The consolidation process brings together the governance, administration, and operations of both districts into one unified school district. The goal is to create stronger, more sustainable opportunities for students while ensuring responsible long‑term planning.

Both school boards passed a consolidation resolution.

Plat submitted to MDE.
April 28, 2025
First joint conversation of consolidation.
Oct. 14-29, 2025
Carlton County and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) begin preparing the plat. The county also writes a statement of support for the proposed consolidation.
What is a plat? A "plat of consolidation" is the legal document that officially records the merger of two parcels into a single entity.
Jan. 2026
Both school districts publish and issue official public notices of the intent to consolidate.
18 committees across both schools start working together.
May 12th
Wrenshall Public Vote.
Dec. 31, 2025
Target date for MDE Commissioner to approve the Consolidation plan.
March 2026
Final order issued by the county auditor.
July 1, 2026
Date of official consolidation.
Fall 2026
First school year as a unified district.
